Partial Face Excavation TBM

The cutting drum controlled by the operator is used for soft rock while a bucket is used to excavate the face in case of clay or compact sand. In most of the TBMs the material from the excavation chamber is transported onto the belt conveyor by the same auger conveyor as in the earth pressure balance machine.
